In loving memory of Ketut, our dear friend,
A black Bergamasco Sheepdog, on whom love did depend.
Born fourth in a litter, in Philadelphia's embrace,
An Italian alpine herder, with elegance and grace.
Mindy and Jeff found her breed through fate's gentle hand,
A dog breed book opened wide, a connection so grand.
The breeder, a teacher, at Jeff's school did reside,
In the heart of their home, Ketut would abide.
Named in Balinese tradition, a meaning so sweet,
Though five years we could have awaited, she was worth every beat.
At fourteen weeks old, she took her first flight,
To SFO she soared, a true joy in their sight.
With nicknames like Princess, and Stinky, her charm,
She played tug-of-war and kept everyone warm.
A free feeder at heart, yet a lap dog at play,
She snuggled and whispered, in her own loving way.
A herder at essence, with an alert bark so clear,
At bedtime she'd sing, bringing comfort and cheer.
From bay windows, she'd watch life drift by,
With a tail wagging wildly, like a motor on high.
Kisses like royalty, bestowed on a cheek,
In her gentle presence, love spoke without speak.
Lessons of patience, acceptance, and grace,
She taught Mindy parenthood, a nurturing space.
Once a model at Gump’s, on a red carpet so bright,
Goofy and loving, she brought pure delight.
Intelligent and curious, with a heart full of joy,
Great with the children, her spirit never coy.
In her private garden, she’d run with such glee,
Chasing deer, turkeys, and all that she'd see.
Twelve years of adventures, or eighty-five human,
Her life was a tapestry, lovingly woven.
On a warm spring day, she took her last rest,
In Mindy’s embrace, where she felt truly blessed.
As the ravens sang softly, in the twilight’s soft glow,
Ketut, our sweet angel, forever we’ll know.
